Apple has recently unveiled the new version of its MacBook laptop series. The most highlighted MacBook Pro feature is the Touch Bar which sports customizable app-specific virtual buttons. The feature can adapt whatever program you might be using at the time, so long as the program supports the bar.

MacBook Pro's Touch Bar is compared to Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon adaptive keys, which the Chinese Company has removed later after the poor execution and feedback from the users. According to some reports, Microsoft was researching on the use of the adaptive keyboard.

But, later Microsoft had decided not to go with the said technology because they didn't build the computers back then reported, The Next Web.

The study on this plan had started in 1999, with an idea that PCs could display action keys and hide other parts of the keyboard based on context, according to The Verge. Steven Bathiche, director of research in Microsoft has spent years on this innovative feature. Since 1999, the research continues for many years with the number of prototypes. In 2009, a study was halted with the conclusion of "Adaptive Keyboard."

Currently, Microsoft has Surface series of laptops available in the market. After Apple's latest Mac series launch the rivalry is set to get fiercer.

So, what else Macs have?
