Cyber Monday 2016: The best deals in Australia

It is another day for big sales and shopping again after Black Friday on Cyber Monday. All over the world, consumers spend more than USD 56 billion in the retail sector, of which Australia has a large contribution.

The online shopping bonanza known as Cyber Monday is held on the immediate Monday after Black Friday. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, two-day sales started on Thanksgiving Day in the US last Thursday, and it generated USD 5.3 billion - marking an 18% increase from a year earlier.

The event is called Cyber Monday because much of the sales are generated through online shopping compared to in-store sales held on Black Friday. It has a larger and more varied proportions of apparels, fashion and beauty sales than Black Friday, which focuses more on big items like furniture and electronics, as stated by Finder.

Aussies love US brands; Ben Franzi, one of Australia Post's eCommerce general managers, said that in the past few months, they had about 13,5000 new registrations as compared to their monthly average of about 3,000 to 4,000. He also added that online shopping is growing huge in Australia, and that sales have increased to 15.9% in six months from June 2016.
