"Will you marry me?"

Those four little words are some of the most powerful in the English language, and it appears that the often times tradition-shaking hip-hop community is no exception. Days after DJ Khaled posted a video asking for Nicki Minaj's hand in marriage, the curvy rap queen was seen wearing an audacious engagement ring.

"Nicki Minaj, I'm at MTV, I'm going to be honest with you; I love you. I like you, I want you, I want you to be mine," the record producer said in a video that was posted on Thursday. "Only reason I'm not telling you this face to face is because I understand that you're busy."

OK, that may not be exactly true considering that Khaled and Minaj work together all the time, but maybe he was just a bit nervous about doing it in person. Then again, some have been speculating that the engagement was nothing more than a thinly-veneered attempt at some free promotion.

"We got the same symptoms, we're both suffering from success...You gotta take your time and think about it, I understand, but I know I have to be here today to let you know how serious I am and how serious this is to me," continued Khaled.

That's right, "suffering from success," which just so happens to be the name of DJ Khaled's new album. What makes the sudden marriage proposal even more fishy is the fact that the record producer and Minaj have never been linked romantically, and his flashy gesture seems to have come completely out of the blue.

After there were some initial reports that Minaj actually had filed a restraining order against Khaled, it appears that she may now actually be engaged to him. She was seen walking out of Crustacean restaurant wearing a huge rock on her ring finger that very well could have been the same one Khaled has proposed with.

So far Minaj has kept quiet on any possible marriage to Khaled or anyone else. She has not formally acknowledged the video outside of retweeting it online, and as the days wear on, it appears increasingly likely that this bizarre episode may be nothing more than an ingenious marketing ploy.
