It was a reunion of a very special kind for the siblings Bo Farrell and Matt Farrell.

The Huffington Post reported on a poignant moment in the college basketball match between Notre Dame and Colgate, which for the record Notre Dame won 77-62 with Notre Dame's Mike Farrell scoring 13 points.

While the 13 points he scored may not have been the best for Notre Dame, Mike Farrell had a whopping surprise awaiting him. His older brother by five years Bo Farrell, a soldier serving in Afghanistan, came on to the court for a very special kind of reunion.

The reunion, as reported by INDYSTAR, was a complete and most pleasant surprise for Mike Farrell as he had no clue that his soldier brother would pop up at his game.

The surprise reunion was planned and implemented with military precision by three conspirators comprising Mike's older brother Bo Farrell, a U.S. Army First Lieutenant, Austin Burgett, Mike's friend, and Mike Brey, coach in the Notre Dame athletic department.

While the secrecy was maintained till the last moment, the final act of reunion was something akin to a dramatic moment in a Shakespeare Play.

As the INDYSTAR reported, The Notre Dame Athletic department connived to produce a made-up video which had Bo Farrell posing in front of an American flag as though in Afghanistan and speaking to Matt Farrell amidst static to simulate a bad connection.

Carrying on the charade further, when the game ended the team played the video on the jumbotron so as to let Matt think that he was receiving the message from his brother in Afghanistan.

The farce ended when Bo made his appearance on the court and the entire Farrell family present at the game were completely taken by surprise, and a very pleasant one at that. There was embracing all round and the surprise reunion was over.

The INDYSTAR summed it up nicely with 'There wasn't a dry eye in the arena.'
