A new smart watch from Samsung is coming this June. The new device allows users to make or accept calls without attaching it to a smartphone. Known as the Gear Solo, it features a camera, a heart-rate monitor, a GPS, and is able to send email.

The new smart watch will need a SIM card and has the major functions of a smartphone. It also has a voice and data plan. Zauba, an Indian import website, posted that SM-R710 was the code name of Samsung's Gear Solo. The smartwatch has an implanted SIM and network receiver. The implanted SIM makes it possible for the user to place a call although it is not connected to a smartphone. Tizon is the operating system of the new smart watch.

The price of Gear Solo was said to be US $213.58, which can be higher when released next month. Users of Gear 2 have complained about attaching the device to a Samsung device to make and receive calls. This gives Gear Solo an edge, as it does not need any Samsung gadget to place and accept calls.

However, there are still unknown details about the new Samsung smart watch, such as:

  • How to make a call
  • The battery life
  • The logistics of taking a picture
  • The sorting of data plans with current contracts
  • If the size of its face is adequate to support all functions

The race for wearable technological gadgets is anticipated to increase as the principal tech companies like Google, Apple and Samsung battle to outdo each other. The ratio of demand for smart devices like smart watches or glasses is unknown, but their demand is expected to increase in the coming months. If the release of Gear Solo pushes through, it will be the third smart watch to be launched by Samsung this year. Telecom companies from U.S., Europe and South Korea were met by Samsung about carrying Gear Solo.
