AMD is in cloud nine as it announced that its Ryzen 7 lineup of chips have beaten Intel's 16-thread Core i7-6900K using standard benchmarks. It has also announced that the new processors will be launched on March 2 but pre-orders will be accepted starting today. AMD's eight-core processors outperformed their closest competitor and is also available for a fraction of the price of an Intel chip.

AMD has started to accept pre-orders for the Ryzen 7 on February 22 at 1 p.m. ET, Top Tech News reported. The chipmaker was delighted to announce that they have outperformed a similar 8-core, 16-thread Intel Core i7- 6900K using the Maxon Cinebench benchmark. This is a test that measures R15 multi-threaded and Handbrake video transcoding plus a chip's 4K gaming capabilities. And other than performance-wise, AMD Ryzen 7 has clearly beaten Intel Core i7-6900K when it comes to price. It is available for only $399 while the Intel chip costs $1,089.

Three new Ryzen 7 chips will be launched on March 2 with prices ranging from $330 to $500, Tech Crunch reported. AMD plans to provide innovation and competition to high-end users using their affordable processors. The Ryzen will be on sale at 180 retailers all over the world and will be available in OEM system and individual configurations.

Not too long ago, AMD was once a fierce competitor to Intel since it can provide comparable chip performance in a much affordable price. Intel soon gained the lead with its improved manufacturing techniques and this led to AMD's struggles. AMD was able to rejuvenate its products four years ago with their Zen processors.

Dr. Lisa Su, AMD president and CEO said that their aim is to deliver the best performing products for the best price. She also teased about the Ryzen 7 processors as it takes center stage on March 2 saying this will reinvigorate desktop computing and gaming.
