Game Developer BioWare has previously said in January that the multiplayer component for "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be handled differently than it was in "Mass Effect 3." In "Mass Effect 3," single-player success was tied towards multiplayer, where In order to get the best possible result, players had to play online enough to maximize their War Assets, which some players, found dislikeable as a matter of both principle and practicality.

In Andromeda, the multiplayer mode will now have no impact on the single player campaign. However, one thing will remain the same, as post-release multiplayer maps for "Mass Effect 3" were all available for free, and BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn recently tweeted that those for Andromeda will be free as well

BioWare hasn't disclosed much else regarding how Andromeda's multiplayer component will work, but according to a report from PC Gamer, producer Fernando Melo has been giving some details on his own Twitter account, including images of the customization screens and character selection, the Missions screen, the new, Prestige-like multiplayer bonus stats, and some information on multiplayer Strike Teams.

These Missions, which Melo described as the link between single-player and multiplayer, can also be taken and played in multiplayer mode, or assigned to a non-player character (NPC) "Strike Team." Mission-specific rewards will be the same either way, but completing a mission will earn a player multiplayer experience as well as loot while assigning it to a Strike Team will grant your NPC team members some experience.

Strike team members will feature their own unique traits, and while they won't die due to failed missions, they might take on negative traits that can cripple their performance in the field. According to Destructoid, more details will be revealed in the near future, but Melo has also said that Strike Teams will open up Andromeda's Mission system to everyone for free, even if a player just don't want to play the multiplayer.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" rolls out on March 21 in North America, and March 23 in Europe. More updates will be posted soon.
