Newly acquire Cavs center Andrew Bogut's season is officially over. J.R. Smith's, on the other hand, has officially resumed.

Because of several major injuries to key players on their roster, the Cleveland Cavaliers have yet to play at full strength this season while defending their NBA title. Just recently, Bogut has been ruled out for the rest of the regular season - including the playoffs - after breaking his left leg on Monday night, just 58 seconds into his Cleveland Cavaliers debut game, as per NBA.com.

It is a very unfortunate ending for the 7-foot Australian, who signed with the Cavaliers just last week in hopes for a chance to return to the NBA Finals. The team said Wednesday that Bogut won't be needing surgery, but he also won't be back in time to contribute this year; he is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of next season.

Bogut was signed by the team to give Cleveland some needed frontcourt depth and a wide frame to combat some potential mismatches during the postseason. Cavs GM David Griffin, who has overhauled Cleveland's roster with the additions of Derrick Williams, Kyle Korver, and Deron Williams, will likely add yet another big man.

However, that is unlikely to happen during the Cavaliers' upcoming road trip, which will begin Thursday in Detroit. According to Fansided, while Bogut is lost, shooting guard J.R. Smith has officially participated practiced Wednesday for the first time since undergoing surgery in late December on a broken right thumb.

However, Smith is listed as questionable for Thursday's game. Meanwhile, Korver is out due to a sore left foot; he will be accompanying the team on its trip while continuing to receive treatment.

Cavs Coach Tyronn Lue, who stayed home to rest on Monday, missed practice as he deals with an inner ear issue. The team said Lue is expected to be back on the sideline for Thursday's game in Detroit.
