The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is rumored to be launched at the end of this month. According to a rumor from China, the handset is expected to be launched with MediaTek's Helio P25 chipset and not Qualcomm's yet-to-be-announced the new Snapdragon 660 processor. Additionally, the new flagship will feature a dual-rear camera setup like its predecessor.

According to Digit, new report refutes previous rumors which indicated at Xiaomi ditching the dual-camera setup on the Redmi Pro 2. Like most Xiaomi smartphones, the device will also feature an all new metallic design with 2.5D curved glass. The handset is likely to approach in two variants - one with a 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and the another one with 6GB RAM, 128GB storage.

Furthermore, Redmi Pro 2 will be powered by MediaTek's Helio P25 and not the Snapdragon 660. This SoC has an octa-core CPU which comes with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 2.5GHz and another four that only go up to 1.6GHz. It comes with the ARM Mali-T880MP4 GPU and support for Cat.6 LTE.

As per BGR, at the core of the smartphone, it is expected to run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 chipset. There are some reports which suggest a MediaTek Helio P25 chipset instead. For power, the new device expected to pack with a 4,500mAh battery. In comparison, the Redmi Pro 2 features a 5.5-inch full HD OLED display.

Xiaomi recently introduced the Mi 5C with its own custom made processor named Surge S1. The company is also reportedly working on their new 2017 flagship smartphone, the Mi 6, which is tipped to launch in April with Snapdragon 835 SoC processor.

The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 may launch ahead of the Mi 6, and rumors indicate that the 4GB RAM variant will be priced at 1,599 Yuan (almost Rs 16,000), while the 6GB RAM variant will retail for 1,799 Yuan (almost Rs 18,000). There is no word on the official launch date yet.
