The tech giant Apple Inc. has surprised the tech world with the release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in a red colour variant.

The new devices were released alongside a new iPad and an iPhone SE with larger storage capacities of 32GB and 128GB of storage.

According to Indian Express, The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition will be available in 128GB and 256GB models starting at Rs 82,000. The special edition (PRODUCT) RED iPhone should be made available in India by the end of March. The Cupertino-based tech giant made the announcement through the press statement.

Gadgets 360 reported the new red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which are being released in recognition of partnership of more than 10 years between Apple and (RED). The Part of the proceeds of sales from Apple's (PRODUCT)RED range goes to the Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants that provide testing, counselling, treatment and prevention programs with a specific focus on eliminating transmission of the dangerous virus from mums to their babies.

Though it's unclear how many PRODUCT (RED) iPhone 7 units Apple plans to manufacture. One should, however, note that the phones come with a "Special Edition" price tag. The company reportedly told Mashable that it plans to make a "bunch" of them.

Tim Cook in his press release explained that the (RED Edition) gives customers an unprecedented way of contributing to the Global Fund for AIDS research. "Since Apple began working with (RED) 10 years ago, our customers have played a significant role in battling the spread of AIDS through the purchase of our products, from the original iPod nano (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition all the way to today's lineup of Beats products and accessories for Apple iPhone, Apple iPad and Apple Watches," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are the best, most advanced iPhones ever, packed with unique innovations that improve all the ways iPhone is used every day. Apple is the world's largest corporate donor to the Global Fund, contributing more than $130 million.
