Shawn Mendes fans are sure to embark on a whole new journey as they come into an era of "Wonder."

Mendes, a singer-songwriter, has found a new way of bringing life to his song by voicing vulnerabilities. These emotions have helped him open up a new chapter in his musical endeavors, starting with his new single "Wonder."

In an interview with RADIO.COM, Mendes opened up about the emotions behind making "Wonder," and it's something fans won't want to miss.

During the interview, Mendes also caught up his fans on the process that his 2020 album went through.

Two Years in the Making

It's been two years since a full-length record in Mendes' name came, and the artist explained what it was like to figure out how he wanted to get back to his art.

"It's definitely a big entrance back, for sure. I think that also, for me, this was really tough trying to like figure out what I wanted the first thing back to be until this song came about," he said.

In addition to this, Mendes also felt like coming back to music started "a little different' for him. "I had ideas, and I had chords and melodies," he said.

He commended the amazing musicians who worked with him in making the song, saying they were able to make his song great to listen to.

"It felt like they were able to just like take my song and turn it into something that even after the 300th time listening to, it really makes me feel something amazing."

He was happy with how the song turned out to be, after the countless times he's listened to it. "I feel so good about what I am saying conceptually," he shares.

"Wonder" Reflects Evolution

Fans and idle listeners are likely to notice how Mendes evolved through the new single and the upcoming album.

"I think I've mainly evolved as a person and that's kind of reflecting in the music," Mendes said.

He said the past six months have been a monumental time for him to reflect and look at his own life. Other than that, he was also able to "look at the world and not be so caught up in my career, my job, and my life."

He said it felt like seeing things "clearer for the first time." The singer applied a more open outlook to his life and his record, and it shows in his music.

Mendes and Matters of the Heart

Mendes also shared what it felt like to be scared of opening up through his music.

"I didn't have the mental capacity and clarity to even be able to reflect," he said. He also added that he was "really scared" of what people would think once he started to reflect in his music.

He also discussed some parts of his relationship during the interview.

Mendes said he always viewed himself as an "open, emotional guy." That was until he started a relationship with someone he does "really, truly love."

He started noticing how he had a "big ego" and didn't want to show her that he was hurting.

"I want to be the man, and I want to be strong in this relationship. It actually was hurting our relationship."

Of course, he was referring to his relationship with girlfriend Camila Cabello who expressed how proud she was and how excited she is for people to see another side of Shawn Mendes.
