Selena Gomez and BLACKPINK appeared on RADIO.COM Live's Check In to talk about their sweet new collab "Ice Cream."

Starting off the interview, Selena said: "This is such a crazy feeling." The Latina singer-actress said working with BLACKPINK was surreal for her, not to mention the success of "Ice Cream" in a short amount of time.

The music video was released on August 27 and became a massive success. The girls shared how exciting it was for them to work together, even though not all of them have met in the past.

Selena first met two of the four BLACKPINK ladies, Jisoo and Rosé, at the New York Fashion Week last year.

"You know how you just meet a lot of people and you don't have a chance to connect with them," Selena said. "It was just so much fun to step into a whole other world."

Sometime between then and now, "Ice Cream" came into being.

"These girls are amazing and they just got more [amazing] when I started working with them," Selena said, gushing over how great it was to record with BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK is also "honored" to have worked with SelGo, admitting that they are big fans of the "Rare" singer.

The Making of Ice Cream

BLACKPINK shared that Selena and her songs were part of their lives growing up.

"We've really been big fans of her ever since we were trainees," Rosé said. She also revealed that SelGo was part of their everyday playlist and TV viewing during their early years in the music industry.

BLACKPINK knew from the moment they met Selena that they had to work together. "It had to happen sometime, and it did! We're so happy about it," Jennie said.

As for how "Ice Cream" came together, the group knew they had the song for "a while." They were hoping to bring someone new to the song with a feature. The girls all thought of Selena and reached out to her.

Upon seeing BLACKPINK reach out to her, Selena knew that working with the girls would be different from her other music. But she pushed through with the collab, trusting a gut feel that the work will be fun.

From there, the rest is history, with the ice cream dream coming into reality.

Selena Gomez, BLACKPINK Listen to Each Other

Other than collaborating on a song, the artists also listen to each other.

Selena admitted that "Kill this Love" and "How You Like That" were her favorites from the K-POP group. Her choreographer even makes her watch videos from the group to get inspiration for her own performances.

BLACKPINK also had their favorites from the Latina singer, which are also great tunes to dance and sing.

Selena jokingly said she'd cook for the other girls when they finally meet in person, suggesting they spend New Year's Eve together.

Shooting 'Ice Cream' Amid a Pandemic

Seeing BLACKPINK'S previous work, Selena knew that working with the group will involve "insane work ethic."

Given the current limitations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they couldn't film together, as originally planned. In the end, they were happy with the result.

Rosé noted that they were proud for having "pushed through" the restrictions and obstacles.

The music video really does look amazing, with an actual depiction of what can only be described as a candyland dream.

As for what's next for BLACKPINK, they spoke about the release of their debut album "The Album" and their upcoming Netflix documentary.
