The 2/22/22 is a rare palindrome date, which also happens to fall on National Margarita Day, celebrated by people across the country.

America's most common tequila-based beverage is annually held on February 22. However, this year, more deals are coming up with a focus on two-for-one since the date is 2/22/22, according to USA Today.

Restaurants nationwide will celebrate National Margarita Day with discounts, coinciding with "Taco Tuesday."

National Margarita Day Discounts

Burger King Royal Perks members can get 22 percent off of any purchase of $2 or more at participating restaurants on Tuesday until Friday, February 25. The deal can be redeemed through the Burger King app, but Royal Perks terms apply.

Chuy's offers a Texas-style margarita. Make any regular House Rocks or Frozen "Rita a Grande" for just $2 extra, and customers can get to keep the commemorative cup, NBC DFW reported. Customers can also add a $1 tequila "floater" to top off your Chuy's margarita.

Wayback Burgers also offers a deal on Tuesday but would only last for an hour. Customers can get a classic burger for $2.22 on the chain's app between 2:22 and 3:22 p.m. local time. Patrons can get the deal by choosing a classic burger, and the discount will be available at check out.

Chili's offers customers to get a House Margarita for $3, $6 for a Presidente Margarita, and $7 for a Premium Margarita. Their Margarita of the Month, the Grand Romance "Rita," can be availed for $5.

McDonald's also offers ongoing deals on its app and the MyMcDonald's Rewards program. McDonald's said on its website that customers could get a free 10-piece Chicken McNuggets when they download the app and join the MyMcDonald's Rewards.

After customers' first purchase, they get the choice of Hash Browns, Vanilla Cone, McChicken, or a Cheeseburger for free.

Bahama Breeze celebrates National Margarita Day by featuring a seven-ounce pour of the restaurant's Classic Margarita served in a to-go pouch, according to TODAY.

Meanwhile, El Torito will be offering build-your-own tacos for $2.22 and $6 House Margaritas, which is regularly priced at $8.50 starting at 3 p.m.

LIME Fresh Mexican Grill offers a quirky way for people to celebrate National Margarita Day. Those named Margarita or Rita can get a free margarita, while everyone else can enjoy margaritas for $5 all day long.

National Margarita Day

Several stories account for the origin of Margarita. Some said it was invented at Rancho La Gloria near Tijuana, Mexico in 1938.

Carlos "Danny" Herrera created the recipe for Majorie King, which is a Ziefield dancer who had a certain allergy to many spirits, according to Days of the Year.

Another story claimed that it was invented in Galveston, Texas by Santos Cruz for his favorite customer, singer Patty Lee.

In 1953, Esquire magazine first published a recipe calling for an ounce of tequila, with a dash of triple sec, and the juice of half of a lime or lemon.

A similar drink called "Tequila Daisy" was published 20 years earlier, but it was the first time that it was published with the name "Margarita."
