Dave Chappelle's attacker during his Netflix comedy stint in the Hollywood Bowl was arrested by the authorities on Tuesday.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Officer Rosario Cervantes told USA Today on Wednesday that the attacker was named Isiah Lee, 23 years old.

The LAPD noted in a statement that Lee stormed the stage as Chappelle was exiting the stage after his performance. The man reportedly lunged and tackled him to the ground.

Ahmed Ali, an audience from Chappelle's show, told USA Today that the attack made them think at first that it was part of the show.

"The guy tried to tackle Dave, and Dave sidestepped," Ali said, adding that the attacker was then held by security and was chased backstage.

Authorities said that the attacker pointed a replica handgun at Chappelle. Lee's replica handgun was also reported to contain a knife blade.

The LAPD shared a photo of the weapon that was used by the attacker in Dave Chappelle's Netflix comedy stint. Furthermore, they noted that Lee was charged with Assault with a deadly weapon. The bail for the attacker is set at $30,000. Dave Chappelle was not injured, but the attacker was reportedly brought to the hospital with minor injuries.

Video Shows the Aftermath of Attack During Dave Chappelle's Netflix Comedy Show  

A video shown by CNN revealed what happened after the attack on Hollywood Bowl occurred. The footage showed a crowd of people on stage. Some of the people in the crowd shown in the video were seen stomping and kicking someone on the ground.

A longer version of the clip was uploaded by a Twitter user with the handle @JEDSIMON, where Dave Chapelle was seen being pulled away from the crowd.

After the altercation on stage, Chappelle then joked that the attacker was a transman, prompting the audience to laugh, per Complex.

In a statement on Wednesday, Chappelle's representative, Carla Sims, noted that Chapelle went on with his show following the incident.

Footage from an audience showed that Chapelle went back onstage, thanking Jamie Fox.

Chapelle also noted that he was able to grab the man's head and joked that his hair was spongey and absorbent.

Jamie Foxx, Chris Rock, Comment on the Attack on Dave Chappelle's Show

Jamie Foxx joined Dave Chappelle on stage, following the attack. He noted that he thought what happened was part of the show. The actor then claimed that he enjoyed the sure and they have to make sure that the comedian is protected at all times.

"We're not going to let nothing happen to you," Foxx noted.

Meanwhile, Chris Rock who was performed earlier that day also joined Chappelle on stage and cracked a joke.

"Was that Will Smith," Rock said, referring to the incident he and Smith had at the Oscars.

Meanwhile, a Netflix Spokesperson expressed their care for their talents to USA Today on Wednesday.

"We strongly defend the right of stand-up comedians to perform on stage without fear of violence," the Netflix spokesperson said.

Sims underscored that Dave Chappelle is cooperating with the police investigation regarding the attack he experienced at Hollywood Bowl.
