USA striker Jozy Altidore will miss his second straight game when they collide with Germany in their final group stage game on Thursday.

Altidore, who also missed USA's 2-2 draw against Portugal on Sunday, has not yet recovered from a left hamstring injury he sustained during their tournament opener against Ghana.

USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann said that it is too early for Altidore to make a comeback, but he revealed that the 24-year-old forward is recovering well from his injury.

"Jozy is recovering really well," Klinsmann said via Fox Sports. "He's doing a tremendous job there. Our medical staff is on top of it. This game comes still too early for him."

The Americans have a good chance of advancing to the knockout stages as they only need a draw to clinch a spot in the next round, and Klinsmann said that Altidore will likely be fit enough to play in their next game.

"We're working on him, we'll get him back in this tournament as we said," Klinsmann said. "So once this game hopefully is done successfully, we'll have a good chance to have him back there in the team."

Good thing for the United States: Matt Besler, who was slowed down by an ailing hamstring in their match against Ghana and Portugal, will be 100 percent in their crucial match against the German side.

With Altidore out, striker Clint Dempsey will have a heavier load on his shoulders again, but Klinsmann is confident that they can score a win against his former team, which would give them a favorable assignment in the knockout stages.

Klinsmann said that he and most of his players are familiar with Germany. Most of the coaches on the German side worked with Klinsmann in the 2006 World Cup, while four players on the U.S. roster have played in the Bundesliga.

"It definitely helps that a lot of our players know the players from the German team," Klinsmann said via LA Times. "They'll be more familiar with them. Hopefully it's an advantage."
