A Texas man shot and killed two employees of the Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday after accusing his girlfriend, who was at the hospital to give birth, of infidelity.

The suspect was identified as Nestor Hernandez, 30. WFAA-TV obtained an arrest warrant affidavit for the suspect, and it revealed that he arrived at the hospital around 10:20 a.m. to visit his girlfriend in delivery. However, he would then strike her repeatedly in the head with a handgun, accusing her of infidelity.

Hernandez then started making "ominous" calls and text messages to his family. According to the Associated Press, Hernandez told his girlfriend that both of them were going to die, and added that "whoever comes in this room is going to die with us."

Nestor Hernandez's Victims Were Innocent Hospital Workers

The fatal shooting's two victims were employees at the Methodist Dallas Medical Center. The first person he shot and killed was Jacqueline Pokuaa, a 45-year-old social worker. She came to the room to attend to Hernandez's girlfriend but was shot and killed by the gunman.

The second victim was identified as Katie Annette Flowers, a 63-year-old nurse. She looked into the room after hearing gunfire but was also fatally shot. Her death was witnessed by hospital police Sgt. Robert Rangel, who immediately called for backup and took cover outside the room,

After reloading his gun, Hernandez exited the room but was engaged by Rangel, who managed to shoot the gunman in the leg. After a tense standoff with the police, Hernandez was then arrested.

The suspect's girlfriend was treated for her injuries at the same hospital. It was reported that her newborn child, who was also in the room when the attack happened, was unhurt.

Texas Man Was on Probation Before Deadly Attack on Texas Hospital

According to Fox affiliate KDFW-4, Hernandez was a "violent prison parolee" who had already been arrested twice for parole violations. His most recent one happened in June.

Before the attack, he was on parole from state prison for an aggravated robbery he committed in 2015. He was allowed to visit his girlfriend at the hospital and was wearing an electronic ankle monitor.

Hernandez previously cut off his ankle monitor earlier this year, violating his parole conditions. He was released after 100 days at the order of the state parole board.

Dallas police Chief Eddie Garcia openly expressed his frustration that a violent criminal like Hernandez was allowed to go out with an ankle monitor. "This isn't about being on parole," he stated, adding that this was about a violent criminal that was on ankle monitor thinking that this was giving him "a level of accountability."

Hernandez, who was injured after a tense confrontation with the police, is now in stable condition and was sent to another hospital for treatment. He is facing capital murder charges.
