A missing Texas mom is believed to be the woman found dead inside the vehicle driven by her teenage son, who was also reported missing.

According to ABC13, a police chase in Aurora, Nebraska that ended in a crash resulted in the startling discovery of the body of 17-year-old Tyler Roenz's mom. The teen from Humble, Texas was reported missing on Thursday along with his mother, Michelle Roenz.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the mother and son were last seen at around 11:40 a.m. Thursday at their home in the Fall Creek neighborhood in the Humble area. KHOU-11 reported that the crash led troopers to find the woman's body in the car's trunk.

Crime Online reported that the police said Tyler was seriously injured in the Friday afternoon crash, but he is expected to survive. The teenager is currently being treated at a nearby hospital.

The Nebraska State Patrol said the Harris County Sheriff's Office alerted them that the Mazda 3 tied to the disappearance of the mother and son and believed to be involved in a homicide was seen traveling in Nebraska at around 2:45 p.m.

Troopers spotted the car after 15 minutes and attempted to stop it, but Tyler allegedly led them on a high-speed chase. Without mentioning it was the 49-year-old missing mom, Gonzalez confirmed through a tweet that there was a female body found in the trunk of the teen's car. However, sources told ABC13 that the body is that of Michelle.

Mom and Son's Disappearance Prompted a CLEAR Alert Across Texas

According to ABC13, the disappearance of Tyler Roenz and his mom prompted a CLEAR Alert across Texas. But it was lifted after the teenager was found.

Ed Gonzalez said the two went missing "under suspicious circumstances. However, he could not specifically describe why. Sources told the outlet that blood was found in their home.

"I don't know what the full scope of the danger part of it is, simply because our investigators were hot and heavy late last night into this morning," Gonzalez noted.

Both Tyler and his mother were initially reported missing by a family member.
