Deaths in Fallbrook Accident

Authorities noted that the incident had shut down southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near state Route 76 in the Fallbrook area, with the wreck happening just after 3:10 p.m., north of SR-76.

Choi said that emergency personnel initially requested a medical helicopter to evacuate a severely injured patient. However, the helicopter was called off a short time later as the victim died at the scene, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.

The Highway Patrol noted that at least one of the vehicles ended up overturned and on its roof.

The CHP said that the southbound area had been completely closed for an "on scene investigation."

The agency said that the traffic caused several vehicles to drive the wrong way on the shoulder and center divider to get out of it, with some of the maneuvering drivers were described as "aggressive," as reported by Patch.

Investigation over the matter is still ongoing, with more details about the accident still to be publicly released.

Interstate 15 Accidents

In February, a semi-truck caught fire on highway in Fallbrook, which prompted lane closures in the area, as cited by Fox 5 San Diego.

The fire was on the southbound Intestate 15.

Two lanes were closed at the time to give fire crews to clean up the area. Fire officials also advised drivers that there would be traffic delays and told drivers to use alternate routes.

In August 2022, a driver got life-threatening injuries after a collision into the back of a semi and becoming partially stuck under the trailer.

The crash was in the northbound lanes of freeway near Mission Road, Choi stated at the time.

Union-Tribune noted that the witness told the Highway Patrol dispatchers that the front end of the car ended up lodged beneath the semi's trailer.

The witness told CHP that the driver was believed to be a woman and was the sole occupant of the Volkswagen Golf TDI hatchback.

Firefighters were able to free the victim from the wreckage while paramedics took the injured driver to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
