Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has now become enmeshed with the Fox News fiasco after he was caught on a leaked tape talking to host Maria Bartiromo about plans to overturn the 2020 election.

The leaked tape shows Cruz's support for the appointed electoral commission to deny election certification with unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud. The recording was made by former Fox News producer Abby Grossberg and was obtained by The Washington Post, according to The Independent.

Bartiromo was heard asking the Texas senator on the recorded audio, "Who's deciding who gets inaugurated," to which Cruz responded that it would be the results of that commission.

Cruz added that it would also depend if they found credible evidence of fraud that undermines confidence in the electoral results.

The Fox News host then asked the senator if there is any chance that the 2020 election results can be overturned.

Cruz then responded, "I hope so."

The Texas senator and 10 other senators sent out a press release on January 2, indicating that they plan to vote on January 6 to "reject the electors from disputed states."

Ted Cruz Leaked Tapes

The leaked tapes of Cruz's conversation with a Fox News host closely mirrors the statements he made publicly regarding efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, as reported by The Washington Post.

Cruz noted in the leaked tape that he successfully organized 11 senators to object to the electoral certification.

He was the first senator to object to the electoral college results, with Rep. Paul A. Gosar in challenging Arizona's electoral certification.

Cruz said that he would have rather seen "these facts developed in a court of law." However, he continued to cast doubt on the Supreme Court's ultimate determination to reject the lawsuits filed to challenge the election.

Democrat Rep. Jamie B. Raskin said that Cruz is a lawyer "who knows the difference between factual evidence and idle speculation" and still chose to play along with it.

The former Fox News producer was accused of lying about the company and her experiences there.

Grossberg said that she has dozen more tapes taken from inside the network about the 2020 election.

Fox News Vs. Abby Grossberg

Grossberg was terminated by Fox News, noting the toxic work environment she experienced while working for Tucker Carlson's show, but also claimed the primetime host seemed determined to connect the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Grossberg filed a complaint in a New York federal court on March 20, with the complaint saying that she was "isolated, overworked, undervalued," and denied opportunities for promotion among many others, as detailed by Business Insiders.

Meanwhile, Fox News has denied those allegations, with a representative saying that they would "vigorously defend" the company against all of her "legal claims which have no merit."

A month after Grossberg was terminated from the network, Tucker Carlson followed the same fate.

Fox News did not say why Carlson was leaving the network, but only thanked him for his service and noted that a rotating cast of hosts would take over.

Sources claimed that Carlson's exit was likely connected to Grossberg's case.
