Argentina and Switzerland may be separated by more than 7,000 miles, but that's not going to stop us from comparing the countries to the fullest. After both Argentina and Switzerland advanced past the group stage, they will play each other for a chance to play in the quarter-finals.

Soccer History      

These two teams don't have a storied rivalry with one another, but they did meet up in 1966 World Cup. Argentina defeat Switzerland 2-0 in their only World Cup matchup. As a whole, Argentina has a big edge with two World Cup victories and four Finals appearances. Switzerland has yet to make a finals, but did have the honor of hosting the '54 games.

Landmarks

Both Switzerland and Argentina offer scenic views of rivers, mountains, and wildlife. Switzerland is one of the most famous skiing destinations in the world, most notably offering the Swiss Alps. Switzerland is also home to many notable cathedrals and churches such as the Grossmunster and the 800 year old St. Pierre Cathedral. Argentina is the second largest South American country and it's loaded with beach life all across the land. Iguazu Falls and Fitz Roy are marvelous natural attractions for visitors.

Food

Argentine food is some of the most famous in all of South America. Argentines love their meats, especially beef. Argentine food is very diverse, with many influences coming from Italy and England. Pizza and pasta are very popular as well. Switzerland puts more emphasis on produce and shares many similarities with Germany. Jam, potatoes, and cheese are some of the most popular foods in Switzerland.

Celebrities

Neither Argentina nor Switzerland are considered "Hollywood countries," but both have produced many celebrities that have been famous on the big screen. Kat Graham is a well known actress and musician. Other popular Swiss celebrities include Kate Burton and Bruno Ganz. Many Argentineans have also represented their county such as Julie Gonzalo and Olivia Hussey. Fabiana Udenio had a great career in big hit movies such as "RoboCop 2," "Austin Powers" and "In the Army Now."

Economy

Both Argentina and Switzerland have a stable economy and do business all around the world. Compared to other countries, both Argentina and Switzerland are doing very well economically. Switzerland's biggest export partners include Germany, the United States, Italy and France. The Swiss are some of the best watch makers in the world and make a lot of money off exporting them. Argentina's biggest exporters are China, Chile and mostly Brazil, with foods, fossil fuels, and chemical leading the way.
