The Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks during Game 5 of the World Series 2023 and became Major League Baseball Champions in a dominant fashion. Corey Seager was named MVP of the World Series.

The Rangers defeated the D-backs with a final score of 5-0, dominating their opponents in Phoenix. Even the club's ace, Zac Gallen, was unable to save Arizona as the Cy Young Award favorite entered the game on a three-game losing streak.

Gallen put forward a heroic effort to save his team, though, as he did not allow the Texas Rangers any hits through the first six innings of Game 5. That changed when Corey Seager hit an opposite-field grounder, with the pitcher, Gallen, allowing three hits in a row soon after.

Seager, as well as Evan Carter, and Mitch Garver all scored hits. However, at the top of the 9th Inning, the Rangers were still only up 1-0. This changed as the Rangers scored multiple runs, with Marcus Semien sealing the deal with a two-run homer, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The Arizona Diamondbacks remained scoreless throughout the match despite Gallen's efforts at the start. Defensively, they made plenty of mistakes in such a crucial elimination game, including defensive standout Alek Thomas missing a bouncing ball in center field that allowed Jonah Heim to score a crucial single.

Texas Rangers Players Celebrate Team's Very First MLB World Series Win

This World Series win marks Texas Rangers Manager Bruce Bochy's fourth title. He came out of retirement to coach the Rangers after famously beating them at the World Series with the San Francisco Giants in 2010. He won three with the Giants and this is his first one with the Rangers.

As the game ended, Texas Rangers players stormed into the field, celebrating their historic win in a World Series matchup that few saw coming as neither team was the clear favorite coming into the MLB Playoffs.

The win also ends years of heartbreaks for the Texas Rangers, who finally won their first World Series title in team history ever since it was formed in 1972. The team had been notable as it was once owned by former President George W. Bush, who sold his stake in the team after becoming the governor of Texas. He was not the team owner anymore when he became president.

While the team won plenty of Division Titles and even got to the World Series a few times, it has never won the big one until now.

Texas Rangers Star Corey Seager Wins Second World Series MVP

As Sports Illustrated's Fan Nation pointed out, Texas Rangers star Corey Seager dominated the World Series as he hit crucial home runs in Games 3 and 4 of the MLB finals. Because of this, he was named the World Series MVP.

This is actually his second time winning the prestigious award, with the first one coming in 2020 when the Los Angeles Dodgers won the title. He was the one who broke Gallen's no-hitter streak, which was crucial to earn that victory.
