In a new development posing challenges to Joe Biden's presidency, left-wing environmentalist Jill Stein officially launched her third presidential bid on Tuesday, per The Guardian.

Stein, 73, is seeking to secure the nomination of the US Green Party and joins a growing list of predominantly leftist figures announcing candidacies that could potentially weaken Biden's support in the anticipated rematch against Donald Trump in the 2024 US presidential election.

After initially announcing her candidacy via a video posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Stein further substantiated her campaign in a live Zoom conversation with two progressive activists, Chris Smalls, a US trade union organizer for Amazon workers, and Miko Peled, an Israeli-born pro-Palestinian activist.

"This is all about our community rising up for our higher values," Stein stated during the conversation.

She emphasized the unprecedented nature of the political moment and indicated that her campaign would focus on key themes such as workers' rights, high living costs, and US support for Israel.

These are issues where Biden may face vulnerabilities within his voter base.

Jill Stein, a two-time Green Party nominee who ran for president in the 2012 and 2016 elections, has officially launched a new bid for the White House, aiming to secure the Green Party's nomination in the 2024 presidential election.

Stein announced her candidacy in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), asserting that the political system is broken and criticizing both Democrats and Republicans as "bought and paid for."

In the video released early this month, Stein expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling parties, stating that they are not addressing the challenges the country faces.

She criticized both parties for allocating trillions to the "endless war machine" while millions of Americans lack basic necessities such as food, housing, and healthcare, according to USA Today.

Stein outlined her vision for an "economic bill of rights" for Americans, advocating for the right to a job, healthcare, housing, food, education, and more.

Additionally, she called for the abolition of student and medical debt as part of her proposed platform.

Did Jill Stein Help Donald Trump to the White House?

Jill Stein, a two-time Green Party nominee for president, consistently rebuffs assertions that she acted as a "spoiler" in the 2016 election, contributing to Donald Trump's victory.

While Stein garnered more votes than Trump's narrow margins of victory in key swing states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, the impact on whether Stein voters would have supported Hillary Clinton, who faced unpopularity among far-left voters, remains unclear.

Jill Stein has adeptly navigated and addressed these accusations, including baseless claims linking her to alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.

These claims stemmed from her attendance at a state-owned "Russia Today" party in Moscow in 2015 and alleged Russian troll farm activity supporting her campaign.

During her advisory role in Kanye West's presidential campaign shift from the People's Party to the Green Party (before West ultimately ran as an independent), Stein advocated for the role of third-party insurgents, according to a July interview with CNN.

She drew parallels with historical examples, such as the abolitionist party preceding the Civil War, which faced demonization as a spoiler while advocating for abolitionists to gain political power.

At that time, Stein spoke favorably about West and the efforts of Green Party affiliates, including her former running mate Ajamu Baraka and journalist Chris Hedges, in integrating the renowned intellectual into the party structure.

However, recent developments show that Jill Stein is once again assuming the role of the Green Party's standard-bearer.
