A Joe Biden 2024 presidential campaign has been officially announced after U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed that he is running for reelection in the 2024 US presidential election, imploring voters to give him more time to "finish this job."

Biden would be 86 at the end of his second term, with his candidacy making him America's oldest president, according to the Associated Press News.

The president highlighted the tens of thousands of constructions jobs being created since he took the White House, which he said are supported by the legislation he signed into law.

Biden's campaign announcement came in a three-minute video amid the fourth anniversary when he declared his intention for the White House in 2019, wherein he promised to heal the "soul of the nation."

In his launch video, he said that personal freedom is fundamental to the nation as Americans, adding that MAGA extremists are waiting to take the foundation of those freedoms away.

MAGA or "Make America Great Again" was a political slogan that was popularized by Biden's predecessor, former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Trump then reacted to Biden's second bid for the presidency.

AP News reported that the president waited until April to announce his reelection bid to avoid "releasing publicly" how much his reelection campaign raised during the year's first quarter.

Former President Barack Obama also waited to announce his 2012 reelection bid until early April of the previous year.

Biden has acknowledged that age is a "legitimate" concern. However, he shrugged off questions about whether he will have the stamina to launch another campaign.

One of the candidates, former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley has called for mental competency testing for candidates over 75, which was a category that would both cover Biden and Trump.

However, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre brushed aside such testing, noting that Biden helped lead Democrats to a surprisingly strong midterm.

Jean-Pierre argued that maybe they were not remembering the wins the president delivered, adding that she would be "happy to remind them anytime."
