The exhaustive search for the missing Indiana teen, Valerie Tindall, who disappeared from her home in early June, concluded with a grim discovery this week, according to the Daily Beast.

Authorities revealed that her body was found buried on the property of a neighbor, adding a shocking twist to the investigation.

Rush County Sheriff Allan Rice expressed the devastating outcome, stating, "This is not the outcome we had hoped for."

Valerie Tindall, 17, was last seen leaving her Arlington home on June 7.

Concerns grew when she failed to return, prompting law enforcement to issue a public appeal for assistance, citing that she was believed to be "in extreme danger."

The distressing revelation unfolded when it was disclosed that the missing Indiana teen's body had been discovered on the neighboring property, bringing a tragic end to the search efforts.

The neighbor in question, 59-year-old Patrick Scott, who had initially assured Tindall's parents that she might have run away, is now facing a preliminary charge of murder.

The arrest has sent shockwaves through the community, revealing that Scott and his family were friends with Tindall's family.

According to Tindall's mother, Shena Sandefur, Scott and his wife had consoled the family, suggesting that Valerie would likely return home.

Valerie Tindall, the missing Indiana teen, would have turned 18 on August 29.

Missing Indiana Teen Found

Valerie Tindall's last known location, based on cell phone records, was near Scott's home. Her final phone activity was recorded shortly before 1 PM on June 7, FOX 59 noted.

Scott faced accusations of providing inconsistent information about the last time he saw the missing Indiana teen and was charged with false information in June.

Detailed court documents narrate the investigative timeline, including a search of Scott's property with cadaver dogs on October 11.

Although the dogs indicated the possible presence of human remains near a pond on Scott's property, an ensuing search of the pond yielded no results.

However, concerns were raised about the scent potentially being carried by wind toward the pond.

A subsequent topography study and a property flyover were ordered as investigators attempted to decipher the indications from the cadaver dogs.

Nearly 40 federal agents and local law enforcement officers executed search warrants on October 28, leading to the discovery of two homemade boxes buried beneath debris on Scott's property.

Witnesses had previously reported Scott tearing down and burning his garage in the early hours after Tindall's disappearance.

Patrick Scott Admits Murdering the Missing Indiana Teen

In a court document filed on November 30, Patrick Scott allegedly admitted to murdering Valerie Tindall, per WTHR.

He claimed that Tindall, on her way to work, met him near Shelbyville High School on June 7.

Scott asserted that she disappeared after he drove her back to his house, located just behind Tindall's residence.

Scott disturbingly stated that Tindall was attempting to blackmail him by coercing him into buying her a car, leading to a confrontation.

He admitted to strangling her with a belt, claiming it happened as she allegedly "got carried away" undressing. Scott insisted he did not intend to kill her, but the act occurred during the struggle.

After Tindall's death, Scott disclosed that he left her body in an office at his house overnight.

He admitted to constructing a box, wrapping her body in black plastic, and burying it on his adjoining property.

The court documents further detailed Scott's alleged abandonment of the missing Indiana teen's car, where he disposed of the license plate and keys into an unknown river.

Authorities claim Scott expressed being "wasn't too crazy" about having committed the heinous act.
