Georgia case co-defendant Kenneth Chesebro helped Donald Trump set up his fake electors scheme and it looks like he is now singing for prosecutors in Michigan as new recordings of his testimonies emerged, detailing efforts by Trump to overturn his loss to Joe Biden during the 2020 elections.

CNN has obtained some of these recordings, and it showed that the Trump campaign's plan to use fake electors to block President-elect Joe Biden from taking office hit a massive roadblock when the fake elector certificates from two critical battleground states were stuck in the mail.

Chesebro revealed that Trump campaign operatives tried to fly copies of their fake certificates from Michigan and Wisconsin to DC by using a chain of couriers with the help of two Republican lawmakers. They would then get these fake documents to then-Vice President Mike Pence while he presided over the Electoral College certification.

This information largely came from pro-Trump attorney and Donald Trump co-defendant Kenneth Chesebro, who gave some receipts to investigators, including emails and recordings about the 11th-hour discussions about delivering the fake elector certificates to Pence.

Chesebro was the architect of the plot but has since cooperated in not just the Michigan probe but also in several state probes, including Georgia. He has also met with prosecutors in Nevada and Wisconsin who are investigating his involvement with the fraudulent Trump scheme.

Donald Trump Co-Defendant Kenneth Chesebro's Recordings Could Bolster Jack Smith's Case

While Kenneth Chesebro is cooperating with several investigations on the state level, the evidence he gave prosecutors could eventually have a big effect on the federal level, especially Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigation into Trump's actions to interfere with the elections across the country, which eventually lead to January 6.

As Newsweek noted, Trump has been indicted by Smith on several counts, including conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. Chesebro's testimony and recordings could ultimately make Smith's case vs. the former president even stronger.

"My guess is that Chesebro's information, which is new-he asserted the Fifth Amendment privilege when we interviewed him, the Select Committee interviewed him-will factor into the special counsel's investigation," former prosecutor Timothy Heaphy told CNN. "The fake elector plot is part of the evidence that will be presented by the special counsel that bears directly upon the president's-former president's-intent to disrupt the joint session."

What Did the Kenneth Chesebro Recordings Say About Donald Trump's Election Interference Efforts?

In the recordings, Kenneth Chesebro revealed that one of the lawmakers who helped in the fake electors scheme was Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, as was a Pennsylvania congressman, according to Salon.

"This is a high-level decision to get the Michigan and Wisconsin votes there," Chesebro told Michigan prosecutors. "And they had to enlist, you know, a US senator to try to expedite it, to get it to Pence in time."

Chesebro also admitted that top Trump campaign lawyers "freaked out" about the missing fake elector ballots and that they even considered chartering a jet to fly these fake ballots to DC in time for January 6.

The former Trump attorney also admitted that this was a meticulous national operation and Trump lawyers were "day-by-day coordinating the efforts of more than a dozen people with the GOP and with the Trump campaign."
