"Whether or not legal action will be taken is being decided but there is one thing that is clear: these fake AI-generated images are abusive, offensive, exploitative and done without Taylor's consent and/or knowledge," a source close to the singer reportedly said, according to The New York Post.

"Taylor's circle of family and friends are furious, as are her fans obviously. They have the right to be, and every woman should be," the source continued, noting that the account that originally posted the photos on X "does not exist anymore."

"The door needs to be shut on this. Legislation needs to be passed to prevent this, and laws must be enacted," the source continued.

Taylor Swift Fans Rally To 'Protect' Pop Star Amid Fake AI Images Spreading

As expected, Swifties quickly rallied to the aid of their idol, with the hashtag #ProtectTaylorSwift trending on X soon after the fake AI images came out, with one fan tweeting, "People sharing the AI pics are sick and disgusting. Protect Taylor Swift at all costs."

People who also re-shared the images got rebuked by Taytay's angry fans, many of whom called for stricter legislation to prevent such incidents in the future, according to Marca.

The Telegram users in that group chat reportedly "joked about how the images of Swift went viral on X."
