The comedy film "Tammy" is about a character with the same name who goes through a series of unfortunate events: she loses her job at Topper Jack's after getting into an accident on her way to work and when she gets home, she learns about her unfaithful husband having an affair with their neighbor.

After running back to her family who lives just a couple of houses away and having her mother deny her request to use the car, Tammy resorts to turning to her ailing grandmother Pearl. Her grandmother lets Tammy use her car, but instead of going alone on her planned trip to Niagara Falls, Tammy finds herself going on a road trip with her grandmother after finding out that her grandmother Pearl has funds amounting to thousands of dollars, while Tammy only has $68 to her own name. It's not quite the adventure Tammy had hoped for, but with grandma riding shotgun on their road trip through their misadventures, it might have been just what Tammy needed.

The film is rated R for explicit content and runs for about 96 minutes.

After its release on July 2, it has already grossed $6,211,368 in the USA so far while receiving mostly negative reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film starring Melissa McCarthy an average of 28 percent from critics while it gained 59 percent from the average rating of the audience. Although McCarthy was commended for being engaging on the screen, her efforts were not enough to keep the film on track. On the other hand, Metacritic gave the film a score of 41 out of 100, with mixed and average reviews.

The film also stars Susan Sarandon who plays the role of Pearl and director Ben Falcone who also plays a role in the film as the character named Keith. The road trip comedy has the tagline "She hit the road. The road hit back."
