Jenna Ortega talks about her Spanish, her Chicana childhood, and Wednesday.

The nominations for the 2026 Golden Globes were announced on Monday, December 8, and Latino actors were once again recognized for their work in film and television. Jenna Ortega and Selena Gomez are nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, and Diego Luna received a nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

In the film categories, Oscar Isaac was nominated as best actor in a drama film, in which he competes with Wagner Moura, and Benicio del Toro, as best supporting actor in a comedy film or miniseries.

In the behind-the-scenes categories, Guillermo del Toro was included in the Best Director category, while Frankenstein and The Secret Agent were nominated for Best Picture.

🎬 Just released! Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is hauntingly beautiful. 🖤 In this breathtaking scene, Mia Goth’s Elizabeth meets the Creature — Jacob Elordi, giving a life-changing performance, showing a depth and tenderness that defies expectations. This tender, eerie moment between Elizabeth and the Creature reminds us why del Toro is a master of heart and horror. #jacobelordi #hearttouching #moviescene #horror #frankenstein

The Secret Agent is also in the Best Foreign Language Film category, where the Spanish film Sirat is also competing.

So far, so good. However, there are some inexplicable absences, and not just for Latinos, starting with the actor who had so many roles this year that the internet was already protesting: Yes, the one and only Pedro Pascal. The Chilean-American actor wasn't just left out of the nominations, but none of his films were even included. Not even Fantastic Four or Edington.

Although Wicked: For Good has several nominations, including best actress for Cynthia Erivo and best supporting actress for Ariana Grande, as well as two songs in the best song category, the film was not nominated in the Best Comedy or Musical Film category.

Although at the Emmys, Andor 's series was among the most nominated, at these Golden Globes only Luna's work was nominated, while even more surprisingly, Avatar: Fire and Ashes was included in the category of Best Achievement at the box office, despite not yet having premiered in US cinemas, but Superman did not receive any distinction.

Social media is outraged by some of these absences; perhaps you will discover others.
