Fantasy football is a special way for fans to compete with each other throughout the season. All the way through the December, fans across the world battle each other to see who selected the best quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and even defenses. But before the competition begins, we must draft which players we want.

The quarterback position is viewed by many as the most important one because they usually put up the most points. So, here are the top five quarterbacks to choose (fantasy wise) for the 2014-15 season.

5. Philip Rivers

There's a chance that Philip Rivers may be available in the second round of some drafts. If he is, get him. Rivers is an underrated quarterback who has been playing with the Chargers since 2004. Last season, rookie wide receiver Keenan Allen became one of his favorite targets, catching more than 1,000 yards. Antonio Gates will also be returning to play with Rivers and those two have set many quarterback-tight end records with one another. Rivers is a safe pick in a division that doesn't have an elite defense in it.

4. Matthew Stafford

Stafford isn't the most consistent quarterback, but this Detroit Lions team loves to pass the football. Of course Stafford's biggest and most noticeable target is Calvin "Megatron" Johnson, who has beat his corners even when triple teamed. The Lions also drafted tight end Eric Ebron No. 10 overall and signed wide receiver Golden Tate. Playing at home in a dome also doesn't hurt.

3. Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers is a very good quarterback who always puts up high numbers. He's also a dual threat because he can run and pass. The only issue for some fantasy football drafters out there is that Rodgers did miss seven games last season because of a broken collarbone. Regardless, that was the only major issue to Rodgers in his career and there's no reason to overreact. Look for Rodgers to have a bounce back year and win the Comeback Player of the Year Award.

2. Drew Brees

No quarterback in NFL history has ever thrown for 5,000 yards in a season twice except for Drew Brees. As a matter of fact, Brees has done so three consecutive seasons and four times overall. Brees has only missed one game in the last nine seasons and isn't very mobile, so don't worry about his health. Tight end Jimmy Graham is also returning as well as wide receiver Marques Colston, so touchdowns and yards should be high as usual. Brees is proof that you don't have to be tall to play quarterback.

1. Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning is pretty much a robot. You can depend on him to throw for over 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns every year and he always plays, with the exception of the 2011 neck injury season. Last season, Manning threw an NFL record 55 touchdown passes and 5,477 yards, all while throwing just 10 interceptions. The Broncos also don't have a strong running game and are now without Knowshon Moreno. This is an easy selection as Manning will go No. 1 in just about every fantasy draft.
