One of the hottest new must-see combos in the NBA next season will be Jeremy Lin and Kobe Bryant.

The Los Angeles Lakers acquired Lin from the Houston Rockets via trade after they were unable to obtain Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, LeBron James or Kevin Love. Lin isn't the next Magic Johnson, but the Lakers are going to need every bit of him.

Lin and Bryant have already communicated. Lin recently said, "We exchanged texts. I was in Shanghai at the time, we've talked a little bit here or there. The one thing he told me is we have a lot of work to do and I think that's 100 percent accurate. As long as we come in with that mindset of really having to work and earn everything, I think we'll be okay."

Obviously Bryant is correct. The Lakers have a lot of work to do to prepare for next season if they want to be a competitive basketball team. This team is still without a head coach, so it's still somewhat of a mystery what type of offensive scheme will be run.

Jeremy Lin also mentioned that he wants to get a in a similar routine with Bryant's workout schedule. Bryant is coming off a major leg injury in which he missed nearly the entire season, and it's well known that he is a workout warrior. It's good to see that both Lin and Bryant are on the same page.

Bryant and Lakers are coming off one of the worst seasons in franchise history. The team finished 27-55 last year, the most losses in franchise history. Bryant is entering his 19th season in the NBA, and he needs to distribute the ball more often if he's going to last. Bryant can be a terrific passer when he wants to, and Lin can be his go-to guy and vice versa.

Lin is only 25 years old, and his scoring abilities must be utilized. Lin once scored 38 points at Madison Square Garden against Bryant and the Lakers. The Lakers will be playing without power forward Pau Gasol, and the frontcourt is hurting. Shaquille O'Neal, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar aren't walking through those doors.

If the Lakers are going to be successful next season, the backcourt will be the reason why.

Clearly, next year's Lakers squad isn't set up to be the "Show Time" Lakers squad of the '80s, but a Lin-Bryant combination is a must see duo. Lin only has one year remaining on his contract so he must prove himself to the Lakers if he wants to stay and get an extension.

The Western Conference is a tough conference, and the uphill battle won't be easy. If Lin and Braynt can make the playoffs next season, it would make for a great comeback story for both athletes.
