In 2015, Marvel will begin yet another franchise with the upcoming "Ant-Man" movie.

The company has been successful in bringing a number of superheroes to the silver screen, and this year it scored one of its biggest successes with "Guardians of the Galaxy." That franchise was extremely important for Marvel because the comic books and characters of "Guardians" were unknown to most before now.

Ant-Man is one Marvel's iconic heroes and one that has a huge fan base. The upcoming feature is the start of Marvel's Phase Three, and one that promises to deliver fun and great action. However, there is a lot unknown about the film in terms of story.

So why is this film so hyped? Latin Post takes a look at what we know about the film so far:

1. Peyton Reed Will Be Directing

It is well known that Edgar Wright was originally slated to direct the feature. The director, best known for his work on "Hot Fuzz" and "Shawn of the Dead," had pitched the movie eight years ago, but suddenly left production midway due to artistic differences. As a result, Marvel hired Reed for the job. Reed directed "Yes Man" and "Bring it On," which does not necessarily read "action director." However, audiences should not be worried that the quality of the film will suffer because, according to Marvel CEO Kevin Feige, the movie will keep "the spirit of what Edgar's original pitch was and the entire template of the movie is what Edgar originally pitched eight years ago now."

2. Changes to Script, Staff Have Not Altered Release Date

Another thing that worried audiences was the sudden announcement that Patrick Wilson was leaving production. The actor had scheduling conflicts due to delays in the project. Matt Gerald and Kevin Weisman were eliminated from the film after the script was edited. Cast changes and script rewrites are always dangerous as it make audiences question the quality of the project. It is also strange that Marvel changed the script during production. However, the fact that the company did not change the date means that the studio has planned everything out perfectly.

3. Ant-Man Will Be Played by Paul Rudd

The actor, who will play Scott Lang, a petty criminal who gets the opportunity of a lifetime to reform into a superhero, has never been in an action movie and lately has proved versatile in a number of indie films. Rudd has also been known for his comedic turns in movies like "Anchorman," "This is the End" and "Role Models." The fact that he is a comedic actor will likely give this new Marvel feature a light and comedic tone. Rudd will star opposite Academy Award-winner Michael Douglas, of "Wall Street" fame. Douglas will play the role of Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym, the inventor of the Ant-Man technology who helps serve as a mentor to Rudd's Lang.

4. Evangeline Lilly Is slated to Play Hank Pym's daughter

The actress had her breakout last in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and she has become an essential action star. In the comic books, Lilly's character becomes part of the Avengers and dresses up as the Wasp. If all goes according to Marvel's plan, the character is likely to show up in future installments and could even join the Avengers in one of their films. The question is whether the Wasp will actually show up in this new installment.

5. Corey Stoll Will Play the Role of Yellowjacket

The actor had a big breakout in 2011 when he played the role of Hemingway in "Midnight in Paris." The villainous role he'll play as Yellowjacket in this movie will not only give Stoll the chance to show a demonic side, but will also give him the chance to have a lead role in a major blockbuster film. Having worked in a number of features over the past years, this could ultimately make Stoll an A-List actor.

6. An Action Sequence Aired at Comic-Con

The sequence featured a flying Ant and showed Stoll and Lily. The action sequence was met with standing ovations and hype went up for the project.

"Ant-Man" will be released on July 17, 2015.
