Leaked images of the next-generation of the iPad family have gone around the Internet, showing the rear casing of the iPad Air 2 that also suggests a possible minor change in design in the new generation of the tablet, Tehran Chronicle reported.

Furthermore, rumors say that the iPad Mini 3 would also be released alongside the new iPad Air 2 sometime before the holiday season. Last year, iPad Mini's second generation was released by Apple in October, and if the trend continues, the third generation of the iPad Mini might be released in the same month, just in time for the holidays again.

Meanwhile, Ming Chi Kuo, KGI Securities analyst, believes that the iPad Mini 3 could be released a month earlier than expected, possibly together with the release of iPhone 6 and not with the iPad Air 2, according to Christian Post. Moreover, it is possible that the name would not be something like "iPad Mini 3" especially since the second one was called the "iPad Mini with Retina Display" and not "iPad Mini 2."

Another rumor said that it could be dubbed as the "iPad Mini Air" instead, following the naming trend by tech giant Apple. However, it is unlikely given that the "Air" and "Mini" are two distinct iPads.

According to speculations, the next iPad Mini would sport the TouchID fingerprint recognition that has been gaining popularity in the newer devices, including the iPhone 5S. The new iPhone would most likely retain the said feature despite the security issues users have raised. iPhone 6 will be featuring the newest mobile operating system by Apple, iOS 8, as well as the new A8 processor chip. It is believed that the third generation iPad Mini would be given these features as well.

The iPad Mini 3 would most likely be more expensive than its predecessors upon its release because of the expected upgrades.
