Aaron Hernandez and his attorneys are not able to keep up with all of his alleged crimes.

According to USA Today Sports, Hernandez's attorneys received some good news this week as U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen M. Williams granted their request for a temporary stay in a civil lawsuit filed by a man who claims Hernandez shot him in the face in February and dumped him in an alley. The former NFL star's attorneys were seeking the stay until they handle the current case surrounding the death of Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez has been indicted for murdering Lloyd, who was found dead in June. Hernandez will likely be arraigned this Friday on murder and gun charges.

"Under these circumstances, if the instant civil suit is not stayed, Mr. Hernandez must necessarily invoke his Fifth Amendment rights here, and special circumstances exist requiring a temporary stay of the Lawsuit pending resolution of the Bristol County Action," Hernandez's lawyers said.

The former Patriots tight end is also embroiled in allegations of murder stemming from a 2012 double homicide and a grand jury is reviewing the case. The troubled football player was recently featured in a Rolling Stone article, which focused on Hernandez's off-the-field issues that were brewing in the time leading up to Lloyd's murder. Patriots president and owner Robert Kraft disputed some of the facts in the article.

The NFL Players Association has filed a grievance against the NFL over $82,000 of money owed to Hernandez during offseason workouts that took place prior to his arrest.

Part of the reason why Hernandez's story has been headline news is because of his popularity as an increasingly talented player on the field. He had 175 receptions and scored 18 touchdowns in the last three seasons with New England.

If Hernandez is ultimately convicted of murdering Lloyd, he could face life in prison.
