A new emotional song was released by the rapper J. Cole wherein he shares his sentiments on the Michael Brown shooting incident in Furguson, Missouri. The track called "Be Free" also features cover art created from the social media image that circulated around the Internet, which showed the body of Brown being sprawled on a sidewalk as he was shot and killed, CBS Local Media reports.

"Be Free" is sung over a somber piano loop to which Cole expresses his rage over the incident, sounding as if he was on the verge of tears. On his Soundloud account, the rapper wrote his message to Michael Brown and all the other young black men in America who suffered the same fate, whether in the hands of black or white men. He also prayed for a peaceful world without injustice, stating that it was only then that all will "Be Free."

Additionally, Cole stressed how the track should be released as soon as possible, sensing the urgency of how he could create an impact on the sad trend of black guys being killed. He said that he was tired of seeing them being killed and that people should not be numb about it anymore. Cole made the song overnight and asked for it to be released the following day, saying that he was not going to wait for the album and that the song was to be released immediately.

The shooting incident took place on Aug. 9 and protests and riots have ensued in Ferguson and the surrounding areas since then. According to reports, the militarized police force has been spraying tear gas and firing rubber bullets into the peacefully protesting residents.

"Be Free" has been played over 62,000 times since it was uploaded on the music streaming website Soundcloud and J. Cole seems to be getting the effect he is aiming for. Listen here.
