"If I Stay" is set to beat "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" at the box office this weekend.

Opening in 2,907 movie theaters, the Warner Bros. film is set to open with $21 million. The romance starring Chloe Grace Moretz is based on a well-regarded novel that came out in 2009. While it is getting terrible reviews, it is generating buzz among young teen girls.

It is unlikely to open on par with "The Fault in Our Stars," but it is surely the most buzzed about new release this weekend.

Second place is likely to be disputed by three films. Opening this weekend in 2,894 theaters, "Sin City: A Dame to Kill" is likely to open with a disappointing $15 million.

The film has been receiving negative reviews and has very little buzz. It has been nine years since the original film, which opened to $29.8 million and to great reviews.

This year has been proven that sequels that wait more than three years can lose audience. "300: Rise of an Empire" came out eight years after the original "300" and flopped. Meanwhile "How to Train Your Dragon 2" came out four years after the original and underperformed only making $170 million.

Additionally, Robert Rodriguez has not been a box office draw in recent years. Ever Since "Sin City" the director has not had a film gross over $40 million.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" will fall 40 percent and add another $15 million. That should bring the film's total 250 million. It will also surpass "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and will come one step closer to passing "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" to becoming the top grossing film of the year.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" starring Megan Fox will also add another $15 million. The Paramount film has overperformed because of word-of-mouth. Expect the reboot to end its weekend with $144 million.

The third big release of the weekend, "When the Game Stands Tall" opens in 2,673 theaters and is slated to make $9 million. The faith-based film is attempting to reach the audience of "God's Not Dead" and "Heaven's Not for Real." However, trailers have only emphasized the football element, and as a result, the film will most likely play to sports fans. Expect it open on par with "Million Dollar Arm" and " Draft Day."

In its second weekend, "The Giver" will fall 50 percent and make an estimated $6 million. Up to this point, the science fiction film based on the acclaimed Lois Lowry novel has had a disappointing week and is likely to end its second week with only $23 million.

"The Expendables 3" will drop more than 60 percent and make $6.5 million. That would put the film at $27 million, which is less than opening of the first two films.

In art house theaters, "The One I Loved" will be released in nine theaters. The Radius TWC picture scored rave reviews and has had an exceptional marketing campaign based on the film's premise. However, it could lose out in its theatrical box office since it is currently on VOD.

Sony Classics Pictures will release "Love is Strange." Starring John Lithgow and Alfred Molina, the LGBT drama has scored rave reviews and is obtaining Oscar buzz. Sony is planning on expanding the film in the coming weeks. It will most likely to be a movie that will appear on many awards lists.

Millennium will open "Are You Here" starring Owen Wilson, Amy Poehler and Zach Galifianakis. The new comedy has scored some of the worst reviews of the summer. It currently has a four percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes with critics complaining that is a flat and pointless movie.
