Following the success of its two-part "Kate Plus 8" special that aired back in June, TLC has made the decision to order additional "Kate Plus 8' episodes to air on its network in December, Wetpaint reports.

"Kate Plus 8's" new season will follow the lives of Kate Gosselin and her children as they vacation in New England and gear up for the final days of summer vacation as Kate prepares herself and the children for another year of school.

People reports, that Gosselin's daughters Cara and Mady will enter eighth grade, while the sextuplets -- Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel -- will go into the fourth grade.

Jon Gosselin, Gosselin kids' father, will not be appearing on "Kate Plus 8's" upcoming season, ABC News reports.

In 2009, Kate divorced Jon following 10 years of marriage.

Since then, Jon has been public about his opposition to his children appearing on reality TV.

Last year, Jon revealed to Oprah Winfrey his belief that his kids suffer from development issues due to their time spent in the spotlight on reality television.

"Yes, they got to travel the world, and yes, they got these fabulous things, and yes, they have trust funds, and they're taken care of educationally." Jon said on Oprah's "Where Are They Now?" OWN special. "Great, but developmentally, they have problems with their peers, and they have problems with talking to other people, and they have problems with wants and needs and manners and morals and what's right and what's wrong. I think more so than someone who grows up off TV."

Despite Jon's concerns, Kate has continued to showcase their children on TLC due to her alleged desperate need for income, RadarOnline reports.

"Kate couldn't turn it down. She loves doing TV and it's basically her only source of income," says a RadarOnline source. "The twins will be going off to college in five years and then she has six more to put through, so she desperately needs these TLC specials."

The source continued, "Kate's making more than $40,000 per episode of the new special series, but it's not clear yet how many episodes there will be. Right now they're only locked in for one season."
