There has been a lot of talk as to whether Chiquis Rivera is the next Jenni Rivera, but as it turns out, it's not a title Jenni's daughter wants.

Chiquis may have started her career making the same genre of music, but she knows she is not Jenni. Her new CD, which will drop in November, will show just what kind of artist she is, notes TV y Novelas.

"You'll always see me as Jenni Rivera's daughter," she said. "It doesn't bother me. It fills me with pride. But I also want for people to see me as Chiquis. I want to do my own thing."

She went on to explain that she learned a lot from her mom, who was a mother, father and best friend to her.

"But I want to be Chiquis," she said. "I want to make my own mistakes, fall and get up again."

Chiquis will also differentiate herself from her mom by trying different genres. For example, she will have a song with Chino y Nacho on her debut album.

The songs will also touch on different themes, such as desire and love. And there will be songs inspired by Jenni.

"I think people will like it, because it will be something very different," she said.

Her uncle, Juan Rivera, has stood up for Chiquis for her debut performance, saying that no one in the Rivera family started off with talent. He also said that Chiquis was a stronger singer now than Jenni was at the beginning of her career.

And he doesn't think that talent is the most important thing to having a successful career.

"My dad always says it's not important to be the most talented because love and effort can take you very far," he said.
