The world famous singer and member of boy band One Direction Harry Styles appeared in a concert in St. Louis and showed his support for the city’s football team as well as the league's first openly gay draftee, Michael Sam.

One Direction, the British boy band known for driving teenage girls crazy, appeared in a concert in St. Louis’ Edward Jones Dome, the arena’s first concert in 10 years, according to CBS St. Louis. Almost 50,000 screaming Directioners, as the boy band’s fans are called, packed the football arena Wednesday night.

The show is parts of the band’s “Where We Are” Tour and the tour has only 15 more cities to hit before it ends. However, according to Forbes, the tour is slated to become the 20th highest grossing concert tour in history. Since the tour began in South America, it has gathered $230 million and will continue to earn until it ends in early October.

However, before leaving St. Louis for greener other cities, one of the boy band’s members showed St. Louis some love. Towards the end of the show, Harry Styles, 20, donned a St. Louis Rams jersey to the joy of thousands of screeching fans, according to TMZ. However, the jersey was not any random Rams player. It was Michael Sam’s jersey.

With the number 96 emblazoned on his chest and back and “Sam” written between his shoulders, Styles finished the concert, showing his support for one of the most controversial and inspiring football players in contemporary sports history.

Both the St. Louis Rams and Michael Sam took to Twitter to thank the British boy band singer for his support.

Styles’ show of support came days after Sam made the first cut for the team’s roster. On Friday, the Rams play the Dolphins and it will be Sam’s last chance to prove his worthy of staying on the team.

The One Direction singer earlier this year had to turn down an acting gig because of his tour, but, according to E! News, it could have been because rumored ex Cara Delevingne would have been his co-star.
