Real Madrid's transfer record this summer was abysmal to say the least.

The team made some solid additions, but the losses the team endured were arguably far greater and tipped the balance in the wrong direction.

To make matters worse, the team could be facing the seemingly inevitable exit of its star man Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar has recently stated that he eventually wants to return to Manchester United. However, he has not stated how soon.

Rumors indicate that United is planning to bring in Ronaldo as soon as next summer. That would be catastrophic for Los Blancos. Unsurprisingly, rumors have started to rise up regarding Madrid's attempts not only replace Ronaldo, but also fix the overall side. Here is a look at some of the recent rumors and whether they fit the team.

Eden Hazard for Ronaldo?

The first big rumor from the Daily Star claims that Los Blancos could be keeping an eye of the Belgian Wunderkind. Hazard is still in his early 20s and has been making waves with Chelsea in the last few years. He tends to play on the left flank, the very position Ronaldo occupies. He is a terrific dribbler and makes rather solid passes in the area. He can score, but he is not a 30 or even 40-goal scorer. Yet.

There is potential, but Hazard is not yet close to the level of Ronaldo. That is not to say that he can never get there. Ronaldo hit the 40 goal mark for the first time in his career at the age of 23 in the 2007-08 season but failed to repeat the feat until the 2010-11 season when he turned 26.

Even if Hazard never reaches that level, he would be a solid replacement. Madrid's offense has some prolific players such as Gareth Bale who could take up the offensive burden. It will be interesting to see how this story develops.

Robin Van Persie to Madrid?

This bit of rumor from the Daily Express comes off as a bit nonsensical. It makes sense for Manchester United, especially considering the loan of the younger Radamel Falcao this summer, but it makes no sense for Los Blancos.

At least on the pitch.

On the tabloids and billboards this is the kind of Galactico move that Florentino Perez has made his trademark. Van Persie is a huge name and certainly someone who can sell sponsorships and shirts for the club.

But at 31, Van Persie is descending from the peak. And from the look of it, the descent could be fast. He had a decent year in 2013-14, but was injured for a large portion of it. He was decent to start the World Cup before disappearing into anonymity as his team surged to third place.

But what makes this rumor most baffling of all is the fact that Madrid already has two strikers. And younger ones at that.

Karim Benzema and Javier Hernandez have never been as prolific as Van Persie, but that does not mean that they cannot do it. Hernandez has never really been given the chance to make an impact during his prime years. Benzema may not be a top scorer, but his playmaking and holdup play has allowed Ronaldo and Bale to flourish offensively.

Glenn Johnson Eyed by Los Blancos?

Juventus is apparently chasing the Liverpool defender, but it could be Real Madrid that makes the ultimate move according to the Daily Express.

This is a move that makes sense for Los Blancos. Johnson, 30, is at his peak and fills a need the team desperately has. Dani Carvajal is the undisputed starter at rightback, but Johnson provides the team with depth it currently lacks.

When Alvaro Arbeloa is the only option to fill the void behind Carvajal, anyone is better.
