The first trailer to "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" has landed online and features a number of action-packed scenes.

The new film is one of the biggest movies of the year and is expected to become the biggest box office hit of the year.

The latest installment tells the story of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), who returns to District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and lead a nation moved by her courage.

While the last two films kept the action contained to The Hunger Games, this movie looks to be action packed with a lot of destruction. The last images in particular shows Katniss using her bow and arrow to destroy a huge helicopter. The movie looks to finally show Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) in action after having played a supporting role in the last two films.

Additionally, the trailer revealed that Katniss will be joined by Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson) and Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) in the battle.

The movie seems like it will also develop the relationship between Katniss and her sister. In one scene of the trailer, Katniss says that all she wanted to do was to save her sister and never be in the games. There is also a scene that shows the two sisters sharing a moment in a bedroom.

The trailer shows Philip Seymour Hoffman in his final role and also showed the first images of Moore as President Coin.

Once again, Donald Sutherland looks more menacing than ever portraying President Snow as he threatens Katniss and the rest of the districts.

For those who are not familiar with the books, the trailer reveals that Peeta is alive. At the end of "Catching Fire," Peeta disappeared and Katniss believed he was dead. Apparently, Snow is holding him captive.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 1" is directed by Francis Lawrence, who directed the previous film "Catching Fire," and the screenplay was written by Danny Strong and Peter Craig. Strong previously wrote "Lee Daniel's The Butler" while Craig wrote the film "The Town." Both writers also wrote the second part of "Mockingjay" which should keep the two-part installment consistent.

The film was produced by Nina Jacobson's Color Force in collaboration with producer Jon Kilik ("Babel," "Inside Man") and also stars Elizabeth Banks ("The Lego Movie"), Jeffrey Wright ("Only Lovers Left Alive"), Stanley Tucci ("Julie and Julia," "The Lovely Bones"), Jena Malone ("Into the Wild"), Toby Jones ("Captain America: The First Avenger"), Willow Shields ("The Hunger Games: Catching Fire") and Natalie Dormer ("The Counselor").

The movie is based on the novel of the same name written by Suzanne Collins, and the installment sold more than 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.

Release Date

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" opens on Nov. 21 and will face off against "The Penguins of Madagascar" and "Escobar: Paradise Lost."
