Klay Thompson wants to stay with the Golden State Warriors and the sharp shooter is reportedly looking for a maximum deal from his team.

Thompson, who is coming off a successful stint with Team USA in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, could become a restricted free agent next summer if no extension is reached until Oct. 31.

Bill Duffy, Thompson's agent, said in a recent interview with USA Today that he believes the 24-year-old guard deserves a maximum deal from Golden State, calling the former Washington State standout the best shooting guard in the league today.

"I don't want Kobe Bryant to go crazy, but there's some uncertainty as to who he is right now," Duffy said referring to Bryant's health. "But I think Klay Thompson right now is the top two-way, two-guard in basketball. I think when you look at his body of work, when you look at what he accomplished guarding point guards on a regular basis (last season), I think it's pretty clear."

Duffy is confident that the Warriors will eventually offer a max deal to Thompson because they do not want to break the "Splash Brothers" tandem, who combined for 42.4 points per game last season.

When asked about Thompson's future with the team, Warriors owner Joe Lacob said that Thompson is an integral part of their future, which was the reason why they made roster moves before to free up a starting spot for him, including trading former star guard Monta Ellis.

"We traded an excellent guard freeing up a starting spot for him and, as is known, despite many requests from other teams over the last few years, we have continued to bet on his continued development," Lacob said. "We are very proud that he is a Warrior and also of his major contribution on this year's USA Basketball team. We are looking forward to a great year for Klay, the Splash Brothers and the Warriors."

Thompson was mentioned in trade rumors earlier in the offseason as reports indicated that the Minnesota Timberwolves wanted him to be included in any deal for Kevin Love, but the Warriors opted to keep the fourth-year guard.
