Actor Neil Patrick Harris opened up to the ladies on "The View" about his discreet wedding in Italy. The small ceremony, attended by a few guests, took place last week and the world only found out after Harris announced it on Twitter. Now we know what happened in the fairy tale wedding.

With this tweet, the world found out that Harris, 41, and David Burtka, 39, married.

After being together for more than 10 years and having two children, the couple decided to finally tie the knot, according to E! Online. Harris appeared on "The View" and told them what prompted the wedding and what happened during it.

"I think when our kids got to the age where they were having reasonable conversations -- where they're asking lots of why questions -- then it seemed like to be able to have a real clear-cut explanation of who their daddy is. I think its great [to say], 'He's my husband,’” he told the show’s hosts.

The couple had their twins, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace, in 2010 via a surrogate mother and incorporated their children into the ceremony. Harper was to be the flower girl and Gideon the ring bearer, but he then changed his mind and wanted to be the “orange boy," according to ABC News.

"We said, 'What is an orange boy?' and he explained this whole thing where he comes down with a basket of oranges," Harris said. "Then, we were trying to find a plan like we'll tie the rings to an orange."

However, despite his weird new position, Gideon did not cause trouble -- but Harper did. Right before she walked down the aisle in front of the 45 guests, she got cold feet and started crying.

"I say, 'David, let's just pick her up and we'll all go together.' Then David says, 'Well, if Gideon goes first, then will you go?' Gideon goes, 'OK' and he picked up his little orange basket and by himself, he walked confidently all the way down 20 steps, got halfway and just stopped!' And we're behind, 'You can do it buddy, you got this!' And he just took a breath and he walked all the way down."
