During a recent interview with Pride Source, Nick Jonas--whose abs were made famous after he posted an Instagram photo of his chiseled body last year--addressed the critics who've accused Jonas of using his abs to "bait" the gay community.

"Everyone's entitled to their own opinion," Jonas said in regards to the "baiting" comment. "I think it's unfortunate that some people have to find a negative in every situation. Clearly my heart is in the right place, and more than anything, if they just looked at my life and my gay friends and the authentic nature of where my heart is, they'd just see that they're kind of ignorant."

It's no secret that Jonas loves his gay fans. In addition to tweeting about his love for his gay supporters last month, the former boy band singer also appeared at two gay nightclubs in NYC to promote his upcoming album, the Huffington Post reports.

While making his gay nightclub appearance last month, Jonas reportedly performed a striptease and later revealed to MTV that he enjoyed partying with his gay fans.

"It's been a fun couple days partying with some of my gay fans," he told MTV at the time. "I love them to death and their support of me, so why not go out and hang?"

In another interview with The Huffington Post, Jonas also shared his appreciation for being named "the darling of the gay community."

"I love it, I'm thrilled by that," Jonas told THP about his fan-appointed title. "I've always had a pretty strong gay fan base, having been a theater kid and then going back and doing Les Miz...that's a community that I love and have embraced and has embraced me."

Jonas plans to continue "embracing" the gay community with his upcoming role in the DirecTV series, "Kingdom" where he might play a gay character that appears nude in the show, Jonas told Andy Cohen.

"Kingdom" will debut on Oct. 8 and Jonas' self-titled album will hit stores on Nov. 11.
