Miley Cyrus grossed out many viewers when she twerked her way into the crotch of Robin Thicke during their duo performance of "Blurred Lines" at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Aug. 25. Thicke's wife, Paula Patton, did not mind.

Patton, 37, appeared on Bravo's "Watch What Happens LIVE" on Tuesday where a viewer asked, ""How long did it take to wash Miley's funk off your husband's Beetlejuice pants?"

First, Patton defended her husband's attire, which was a black and white striped suit.

"First of all, his outfit was fly," Patton said. "Secondly, he was wearing pants so there was nothing to wash off. It wasn't a naked show!"

Patton explained that VMA performances are planned well in advance, and so she was not shocked when Cyrus, 20, and Thicke, 36, got a little raunchy.

"I wasn't surprised at all," Patton said. "Honestly, they rehearsed for three days beforehand, and I don't know how not to dance with someone having their booty in your . . . all my friends do it like that, and I don't really know what the big deal is."

The actress, who will star in the upcoming film Baggage Claim, also said that viewers should not have been so surprised. Cyrus' song, "We Can't Stop" talks about partying and being as wild as possible.

"I didn't know if they thought Miley was going to sit down and play piano like Alicia Keys. Her song's about taking molly," Patton said.

On Wednesday, Patton made a stop at "TODAY" where she again discussed the performance.

"I don't know if you guys have been to a club lately, but that's how girls dance at the club," Patton said. "My friends dance with [Thicke] like that. It's just what they do."

Patton then did a little twerking of her own to demonstrate how harmless a little booty shaking can be. The actress got out of her chair and twerked on Al Roker, the weather anchor.

Your wife's [Deborah Roberts] not going to get mad at you is she?" she asked.

In the end, Patton reflected on her eight-year marriage, saying that the secret to it is "love."

"I want him to express himself however he feels, and he lets me do the same," Patton said.

Baggage Claim will be released Sept. 27.
