Chris Algieri likes his chances against Manny Pacquiao, and the reigning World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion revealed that he has been studying fights of 'Pacman' against Juan Manuel Marquez.

Algieri, who will look to take the WBO welterweight title in the biggest fight of his career on Nov. 22 in Macau, said in an interview that he is planning to imitate Marquez's style against Pacquiao.

Marquez is considered by most boxing analysts as the most difficult opponent Pacquiao has ever faced. The Filipino boxing icon had two close decision wins against Marquez, but his Mexican rival had the last laugh after scoring a sixth round knockout loss in their fourth fight in December last year.

"Marquez made Manny think," Algieri told BoxingScene. "Pacquiao is the king of start and stop, in and out, start and stop. Marquez was able to use broken rhythm to keep that rhythm off. He slowed down certain aspects of it; he picked up certain aspects of it. He was able to disrupt the rhythm of the fight. That's a good strategy."

Algieri also answered his critics, who are saying that he is being too friendly with Pacquiao with some saying that it is a sign that he is intimated by the former pound-for-pound king.

The 30-year-old reiterated in an interview that he doesn't have to hate Pacquiao in order to defeat him in their upcoming world welterweight title fight next month, while also adding that he is not bothered by being tagged as an underdog.

"This is my profession. It's my job. I don't have to hate the man to destroy the man," Algieri said via Boxing News 24. "So I'm going to go out there and handle my business on Nov. 22, but for now he's a good guy. I've been an underdog before. I'm comfortable there."

Algieri, who will fly to China for the fight on Nov. 13, also played down speculation that Pacquiao is already looking past him as proven by recent reports that the Filipino boxing icon's camp is already thinking about a super fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. next year.

"After I beat Manny, he can fight Floyd," Algieri said via New York Post. "Boxing has worked out for me that when I do what I'm supposed to do, I get what I'm supposed to get."
