Yankees star second baseman Robinson Cano is looking for a massive contract this offseason, but is he asking for too much?

According to the Journal News, Cano reportedly asked the Yankees for a 10-year deal in the range of $305 million. Instead, the Yankees countered by suggesting a deal similar to David Wright's, which is 8 years and $138 million.

"I want to take my time, go on vacation and relax," he told the Journal News. "And then when the day gets closer, that's when I want sit down with my family and decide what we're going to do. But don't get me wrong, I love this team, you know?"

With such a hefty price tag, the question then becomes whether the Yankees are willing to cough up that much money. If not, would Cano move on with another team or would he accept a smaller deal?

"Who knows what's going to happen?" he said. "But I always play this game like it's the last day. This year, I just enjoyed to be here and I'm going to enjoy the last day, being here with all these guys. Nobody said I'm leaving, nobody said I'm staying. I haven't decided anything yet. Let's see what happens after the World Series."

Regardless, Cano and the Yankees have the entire offseason to work something out. The Yankees have faded from the playoff picture as of late as the season is about to wrap up, so negotiations will be underway as the offseason rolls in.
