Barcelona and Sevilla will play each other in a critical Week 12 La Liga game.

These are two great teams who have high hopes this season. Both clubs rank near the top of this year's standings, and this will be the first time we see these two clubs face off this season.

Let's see who has the edge in this game:

FC Barcelona

Barcelona is currently ranked second in the standings with an 8-1-2 record, giving them 25 points. After starting the season off undefeated in their first eight games, Barcelona struggled, losing back-to-back games to Real Madrid and Celta Vigo. In their last game, Barcelona got back on track with a 2-1 victory against Almeria. Neymar and Jordi Alba both scored in that game against Almeria.

Barcelona has won 22 La Liga Championships and four of the last six titles.

Allowing just five goals this season, Barcelona has been the best defensive team in the league. Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has been exceptional in net, allowing just five goals in 11 starts. Thanks to Barcelona's elite defense, Bravo has only had to make 20 saves this entire season.

Lionel Messi and Neymar have created a great one-two punch on offense. Neymar has a team-leading 10 goals, and Messi leads Barcelona with seven assists. Barcelona's offense has scored the second-most goals in the league with 25; Real Madrid has 42. Luis Suárez is having an underrated season for Barcelona this year, and he could be an X-factor in this game.

Manager Luis Enrique has said multiple times that Barcelona is fully ready and prepared for Sevilla.

Sevilla FC

With 23 points, Sevilla currently sits in fifth place in the standings, just two points behind Barcelona. It's been a long time since Sevilla won the championship, 1946 to be exact, but fans are hoping that drought will end this season.

The only two losses for Sevilla this season have been against Athletico Bilbao and the defending champions, Atletico Madrid. In their last contest, Sevilla tied with Levante, 1-1. Victor Machin Perez scored the only goal in that game. Sevilla doesn't have a very high-powered offense. But they are a well-balanced team, and their defense gets the job done when it matters most.

Starting goalkeeper Beto has allowed eight goals in eight games so far this season. Colombian forward Carlos Bacca leads Sevilla with seven goals this season. Bacca is tied for third in goals scored this season with Joaquin Larrivey and Messi. Denis Suárez and Gerard Deulofeu lead a great middle field attack, and each have a team-leading three assists.

Sevilla will face Barcelona again in Week 31 on April 31 in Seville, Spain.
