Milwaukee Bucks forward Jabari Parker will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 NBA season after sustaining a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee, the team announced on Tuesday night.

Parker, the second overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, hurt his left knee in the third quarter of their hard-earned 96-94 win against the Phoenix Suns on Monday. The 19-year-old's left knee buckled when he tried to drive to the basket against Suns forward P.J. Tucker, and his teammates needed to carry him off the court.

Initial assessment suggested that Parker suffered a sprain, but an MRI in Milwaukee on Tuesday afternoon revealed that the former Duke University standout tore his left ACL.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Parker informed his teammates about the injury through text after the MRI result was revealed. Reports also added that the Bucks and Parker's representatives have yet to decide on when the rookie forward will undergo surgery.

Parker, who was selected behind Andrew Wiggins in this year's draft, is the strongest candidate to win the Rookie of the Year award this season. In his first 25 games with the Bucks, Parker averaged 12.3 points on 49.0 percent shooting from the field to go along with 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game this season.

Parker, who was considered as the most NBA-ready player before the 2014 NBA Draft after spending just one season at Duke, quickly made an impact for the Bucks as he posted double-double performances in two of his first three games as a rookie.

The Chicago, Illinois native helped the Bucks start this season with a 13-12 record -- only two wins away from tying their 15-win total last season. His impressive games did not go unnoticed as he was named Eastern Conference rookie of the month for October and November.
