Tim Tebow may finally be playing for an NFL team this season as reports say the St. Louis Rams are eyeing the QB for a backup position. However, an insider was quick to debunk the rumors.

Sam Bradford, the Rams' leading quarterback, suffered a serious injury last Sunday as his team lost to the Carolina Panthers, 30-15. According to a tweet from St. Louis' official account, the QB suffered a torn ACL and will have to sit out the rest of the season.

"An MRI confirmed that #Rams QB Sam Bradford suffered a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). He will miss the remainder of the 2013 season," the team's official Twitter account posted.

Given this new challenge for the Rams, the team is now looking for a backup to fill in the emptied position of Bradford. This is where Tebow comes in.

Early yesterday, NFL Network's Mike Silver tweeted that the Rams are considering signing the former Jets QB.

"From @MikeSilver: Rams have discussed signing Tim Tebow. Post to come," @NFL_ATL announced.

Following this report, Peter King of Sports Illustrated noted that given the situation the team is in, the Rams are expected to list down their prospects as backup.

"StL1: Sounds like the Rams, if injury to Bradford is as bad as feared, will have a QB-workout day Monday, w/roundup of the usual suspects," King tweeted, followed by another post: "StL2: You know: Leinart, Thigpen, Skelton--those types. Maybe, as @mikesilver said, Tebow. Not Vince Young. Not a Jeff Fisher-match."

However, following all these reports, Silver cleared up that the reports may "unlikely" push through.

"I believe it's unlikely they'll actually sign him. RT @NFL_ATL From @MikeSilver: Rams have discussed signing Tim Tebow. Post to come," Silver tweeted.

With this update, it may take more time for fans to finally see Tebow in the field, throwing passes for touchdowns. We may just have to keep an eye out for any updates on Tebow's NFL destiny.
