Fans have spent weeks trying to figure out why Charlie Hunnam departed from the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. Yesterday, the actor spoke out for the first time since Oct. 12, when he resigned from the role of Christian Grey.

Hunnam joined his "Sons of Anarchy" cast members at the 2nd annual Hogs for Heart fundraiser. The event took place in Burbank, Calif. and benefitted One Heart Source Education Programs in Africa. During the event, Hunnam said that he has kept himself busy since dropping out of Fifty Shades of Grey.

"I am doing good," Hunnam told E! News. "I am just really concentrating on work. It's been a really busy time."

Hunnam made headlines after E.L. James, the author of the Fifty Shades of Grey novel, announced that Hunnam would play Christian Grey, the S&M deviant that seduces Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson). On Oct. 12, however, Universal Pictures and Focus Features announced that Hunnam's busy TV schedule prevented him from fulfilling the role.

The actor told E! News that since the announcement, he has kept busy.

"I have had some family stuff going on, so just trying to stay focused and stay positive and keep trying to do a good job at work and be with my family and stay positive," Hunnam said.

Despite rumors that Hunnam left the film because he could not handle the pressure or because he wanted more creative control, a busy schedule could have some validity. In May, Hunnam's father, Billy, died, which required the actor to return to England to be with his family. He is also filming his last season as Jax in "Sons of Anarchy."

"Like I said, I've got some family stuff I have to tend to," Hunnam said.  "So when I wrap the show, I am going to go to England and see my people, and then I have a film that I am doing with Guillermo [del Toro]. So I am going to go and do that and concentrate on the final seasons of 'Sons.'"

Instead of preparing chains and whips, Hunnam is preparing to say goodbye to the cast he has known for what will be seven seasons.

"It's obviously going to be a really emotional time for us," Hunnam said. "We are like a family and have become very, very close and become dear friends to each other so it's going to be sad and finish up and say goodbye to everyone, but we've got like 13, maybe even a few more, episodes."

It appears that Hunnam is prepared to move on, from both Fifty Shades of Grey and "Sons of Anarchy."

"There's rumor that we might do a couple of more episodes and do a little bit of an extended season next year, so we will see if that happens," Hunnam said. "It may or it may not, but I just want to finish that strong and go on to a new chapter of life."
